FAQ’S |
| |
| How
do I get started at Acorns to Oaks? |
| Time invested now builds
character for the future. Help your child anticipate and
expect to learn as he or she arrives in class. Check in
begins 15 minutes prior to every weekend Celebration Service
(or special event). Children need to be picked up within
15 minutes after the Celebration Service or Special event
has finished. |
| |
|
| |
Consistent
attendance in Acorns to Oaks helps your child identify
and begin building relationships with the partners and
other children. Also, please try to check your child
in at the beginning of Celebration. It is difficult
for a child to get involved after the class has already
been in progress. He or she may feel left out and uncomfortable.
However, late comers are always welcome! |
| |
| We will not add your child
to our database or rosters until a green registration
form is completed. For your convenience, you may download,
complete and bring this form with you when you come. |

| What
are your security procedures? |
| The safety and security
of your children are our highest priority! |
| |
| Everyone who works with
your child has had a criminal background check, references
called and been screened through Megan’s Law and
county court records. |
| |
| Parents/Guardians are photographed
and entered into our database. Their picture is posted
inside the classroom door so that a visual ID is made
at the time of drop off and pick up. If a person’s
picture is not on our photo board and not authorized by
you, your child will not be released to them |
| |
| You will sign in each child
when you drop them off and are required to sign out each
child at the end of service. No child will be released
on their own. We also require that only parents pick up
their children. We will not release to an older sibling
without written authorization. |
| |
| In addition, when you check
in Kindergarten and younger children, a numbered pager
is assigned to you. If you are needed during the service,
this pager will signal you that your child needs you.
This pager is the 2nd form of security that will be needed
to retrieve your child from their classroom. |
| |
| A nametag with the child’s
picture is printed for each child in the Nursery and Toddler
Rooms. Nametags without pictures are issued to all other
children. The nametag for all age groups will have an
M, C or R icon if there is a medical
or special care instruction or a restriction
for a guardian. |
| |
| The bathrooms in the Acorn
Meadows hallway are reserved for children only. Our partners are trained to open the door completely,
check the entire restroom (including behind the doors)
before allowing the child to enter. The adult partner
then waits just outside the bathroom door until your child
is ready to return to their classroom. |
| |
| Our goal is to keep our
child-adult ratio within the safe guidelines to ensure
the safety of your child. If this ratio is exceeded when
you admit your child we request that you stay until additional
assistance arrives. |
| |
| What
about siblings in the classroom? |
| Siblings need to be in their
own age level class. It is much healthier for each child
to adjust on their own in an age appropriate environment. |
| |
|
| |
| Will
I be required to help in my child’s classroom? |
| We have so many wonderful
partners, but it is helpful to have additional assistants
with the growing number of children we are reaching each
week. It is comforting for your child to have you in class
with him or her occasionally. So that your child has the
best possible learning experience possible and so that
your child’s teacher can focus on teaching, we are
asking all parents to assist in Acorns
to Oaks once per quarter (that’s a maximum
of 4 times per year)! You will help with sign
in, crowd control, pass out supplies, set up or tear down,
etc! No teaching involved! |
| |
| When you add your child’s
name to the classroom roster, we will place you on the
schedule in your child’s classroom, mail you a schedule
and send you an email reminder the week before. |
| |
| If it would be more beneficial
for your child that you assist in another age group, you
can note that on your green family registration card. |
| |
| What
is your wellness policy? |
| Please bring your children
to Acorns to Oaks only when they are well, since illnesses
spread very quickly among children playing together. Please
do not bring your child if they have had a fever or diarrhea,
or any other contagious symptom within the last 24 hours.
Please do not drop your child off in the classrooms if
they have a runny nose. If your child becomes ill when
in our care, we will page you immediately. Please understand
that we cannot give your child any kind of medication
(including teething lotion). Thank you in advance for
helping us keep our Acorns to Oaks program a healthy place
for all. |

| While it is impossible to
eradicate every germ/bacteria we do make every effort
to make our Nursery/Toddler Rooms as clean and sanitary
as possible. All nursery and toddler room toys and surfaces
are sanitized weekly. All linens are placed in a laundry
basket after each child’s use. In addition, we have
air purifiers running 24/7 that help remove allergens,
molds and most germs from the air and nearby surfaces. |
| |
| Table surfaces are disinfected
after each celebration service or special event use. |
